George Daniels Space Traveler's gusset watch sold at auction for 3.6 million pounds.

Recognized as the biggest watchmaker of his time, Dr. George Daniels broke a new record today after the sale of the Space Traveler. The timeguard sold for a world record of 3.6 million pounds sterling after seven minutes of auction at Sotheby's in London. This is the highest price ever paid for a timepiece created by an independent watchmaker.

The Pocket watch Space Traveler was part of a private collection since 1988 and has already been described by George Daniels as "the kind of watch you would need for your trip to Mars". Made in 1982, the timepiece was designed to commemorate the first establishment.

The sale of the watch beats the record set by George Daniels after the sale of his other Space Traveler watch for a little less than 3 , 2 million pounds sterling in 2017. Daniels made only 27 watches during his career and died in 2011. Originally from Sunderland, he spent his career on the island of Man where the two watches Gusset Space Traveler have been created.

Roger W Smith, Expert in watchmaking and protected from Dr. Daniels, commented the sale;

"C 'was an exceptional room, another fine example of his creativity "

Smith continues by saying that the price reflects the impact of George Daniels in the watchmaking industry, a man who made all his watches in hand and which "always pushed the world of watchmaking ".
