Antonio de Pereda y Salgado 1611-1678, was one of the most remarkable painters of the Spanish baroque. In his paintings of still lifes and vanities that can be found in the Prado museum in Spain and other great museums, they appear frequently, reproducing the gusset watches the most important of the XVII century : a precious and trustworthy testimony to consider, during the study of watchmaking of the time.
